We exemplify a positive and proactive approach to environmental management to further the spirit and intent of our corporate values.

Environmental Management System Certification

Xilinx has developed and implemented an environmental management system that complies with ISO14001:2004. The system is in place at at our design and testing facilities in San Jose, Ireland and Singapore. The Xilinx ‘EMS’ helps us identify our environmental impacts, implement programs to control and minimize our environmental footprint and drive continuous improvement.

Environmental Product Stewardship

Xilinx introduced its first lead-free part in 2002 to meet the European Union’s Restriction on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances ( RoHS) directive. Xilinx now carries dual product lines: lead-free RoHS-compliant, and our standard parts, which are "5 of 6"-compliant.

News and Highlights

Xilinx Becomes EPA Green Power Partner

Pollution generated by traditional sources of electricity (such as oil, natural gas and coal) has a negative impact on our environment.  To reduce this negative impact, Xilinx supports clean energy generation. We purchase renewable energy certificates that support the development of new wind farms in California. For every kilowatt hour of RECs purchased by Xilinx, an equal amount of electricity from renewable resources such as wind is delivered to the electricity grid, helping offset the need for electricity from more polluting sources.  Through this effort, Xilinx prevents the emission of 603,750 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere and will offset 3% of Xilinx San Jose and Xilinx Colorado’s electricity consumption. This is comparable to planting 74 acres of forest and removing 57 average U.S. cars off the road. Through this effort, Xilinx has become an EPA Green Power Partner.

Xilinx Certified as Sony Green Partner

Our commitment to earth friendly solutions is recognized by Sony Corp. They named Xilinx as one of their Green Partners in early September 2003 and re-certified us in 2006.

Sony's Green Partner Standards were established in July 2001 to encourage suppliers to introduce "green" environmental management systems. Under this program, Sony auditors visit suppliers to check environmental management activities - specifically, the reduced use of environmentally sensitive related substances. If suppliers meet Sony's standards, they qualify as Green Partners. Suppliers must renew their Green Partner approval every two years by continuously maintaining and upgrading their environmental management systems.

Xilinx is proud to be a Sony Green Partner and will continue to provide environmentally friendly products to all customers.
