Lab measurements and simulations conducted by renowned signal integrity expert Dr. Howard Johnson show that the advanced packaging technology of Virtex-4 FPGAs provides up to seven times less crosstalk compared to competing 90nm FPGAs. As interfaces run at higher speeds with faster edge rates and shrinking bit periods, ensuring signal integrity and power integrity is critical to successful system implementation. Crosstalk plays a significant factor in affecting the signal integrity of the system. The webcast goes into the mechanisms of inductance, explaining the aspects relevant to the high pin-count BGA device, illustrated with hardware demonstrations.
