Maxim Integrated Dongle - v2.00.1 Installer - Driver installation issue

Issues MIGHT be seen when installing the drivers for the Maxim Integrated Power Dongle from the v2.00.1 installer.

The dongle might fail to enable or might not be recognized in the GUI due to a driver issue.

In this situation, the dongle can show up as MAXPOWERTOOL001# in Device Manager:

If the drivers are correctly installed, they will show up as a COM port, not as MAXPOWERTOOL001#.

To resolve this potential driver issue, you can do the following:

  1. In the device manager, delete the MAXPOWERTOOL001# reference
  2. In the control panel, uninstall the MAXPOWERTOOL v2.00.1 GUI and drivers
  3. Remove / disconnect the dongle from your machine
  4. Plug in the dongle and allow Windows to update the driver from the internet
  5. Reinstall v2.00.1, being careful NOT to let it install the drivers

The driver should then initialize, and 'Digital Power Controller' should be seen under Ports (COM & LPT) in Device Manager.

The dongle should then be recognized, the green light should be seen on the dongle, and connection to the GUI should be successful.

Note that Windows cannot verify the digital signature of the driver.
